I approached numerous individuals within Jerusalem Farm for feedback and suggestions about resumes in the non-profit field. The most common suggestion that people gave me was to be sure to highlight work duties that reflect the specific mission of each non-profit organization. They stated that it is best to integrate it within a bullet point statement rather than just stating an organization’s mission. They also mentioned that I should list my academic honors beneath my experiences as those can be “icing on the cake” after describing my various experiences.
After conducting some research on various non-profit based resumes, I couldn’t find a standard template or style. However, I listened to the advice of my co-workers at Jerusalem Farm and re-structured my resume’s template based on their suggestions. I tailored each of my experiences to three bullet points each, moved my academic honors section beneath my professional experiences and I wrote my non-profit work duties in ways that reflect the mission of the organization.
